Middleton High School Choral Music offers three choirs and two extra-curricular vocal ensembles:
Cardinal Chorale: Students in Cardinal Chorale develop vocal technique and music reading skills, and will gain exposure to a variety of choral literature, cultural traditions, and languages. Students rehearse during the school day and perform in two evening concerts (winter and spring) and at Country Breakfast. Optional activities, field trips and performance opportunities are available. Cardinal Chorale does not require an audition.
Cantus: Students in Cantus develop vocal technique, music reading skills and stylistic practices, and gain exposure to a variety of choral masterworks, cultural traditions and languages. Students rehearse during the school day and perform in two evening concerts (winter and spring) and at Country Breakfast. Optional activities, field trips and performance opportunities are available. Students are placed in Cantus based on a spring audition.
Concert Choir: Students in Concert Choir develop vocal technique, music reading skills and stylistic practices, and gain exposure to advanced level choral masterworks, cultural traditions and languages. Students rehearse during the school day and perform in two evening concerts (winter and spring) and at Country Breakfast. Optional activities, field trips and performance opportunities are available. Chamber Choir is an auditioned, mixed vocal ensemble that studies and performs advanced choral literature in a variety of styles (madrigals, motets, folk songs, vocal jazz, a cappella pop, etc.). Auditions for this group are open to students who are currently enrolled in a curricular choir (Cardinal Chorale, Cantus, or Concert Choir). Rehearsals are on Monday evenings throughout the school year.
Bristol Street is a student-led, auditioned, mixed vocal ensemble that works on singing lead, harmonizing, and beatboxing, and performs pop classics and today's hits at MHS choral events. This group works together to create their rehearsal schedule and is largely self-guided.
